2018 Monhegan Museum: Celebrating 50 Years
Each year the Museum presents an art exhibition in the Gallery Building showcasing a particular artist or period of Monhegan’s artistic history using materials from our collection, and from interested friends.
The show for 2018:
An Island Treasure: Celebrating 50 Years of the Monhegan Museum
As one of the many ways that we will be marking our 50th anniversary during the summer of 2018, we will be mounting an exhibition of works from the museum’s permanent collection that details the history of Monhegan as a destination for artists. From Aaron Draper Shattuck who visited in 1858, to Don Stone, and dozens in between we will celebrate 160 years of artists finding inspiration on Monhegan.
