The Edward L. Deci Directorship Fund

In May of 2026 the Board of Trustees of the Museum established the Edward L. Deci Directorship Fund to honor the life and legacy of Ed Deci, beloved founder and visionary of the Monhegan Museum of Art & History and a long time summer resident of Monhegan Island. This fund will serve as a lasting trubute to Ed’s commitement to the mission of the Monhegan Museum to steward and share the cultural memory of the island to connect people to this place, its history and each other.

All gifts given to the museum in memory of— or to honor— Ed are being directed to the Edward L. Deci Directorship Fund. This endowed fund will support the Museum Director and provide a stable foundation for the Museum’s future. The Museum’s current Sustainability Campaign includes a goal to increase the principle of this endowed fund by $1,500,000. We thank you for your support in helping us to reach this goal.
