Artist Choice Exhibit

Dear Artists,

Below you will find links to a set of PDFs containing images of and information about the works from which you can make your selection of a single artwork to be included in the 2028 Artists’ Choice exhibit. These include works already in the Museum collection, as well as recently accessioned works given to the Museum by Susan Bateson and Stephen S. Fuller, and works from the estate of Ed Deci which have not yet been formally accessioned into the collection. All are available for inclusion in the 2028 exhibit.

NOTE: The Museum’s large collection of works by James Fitzgerald is not represented in these documents, other than a few scattered works. If you are interested in selecting a work by James Fitzgerald, you can visit the online James Fitzgerald Catalogue Raisonné then use the drop-down menu under “Collection” to select “Fitzgerald Legacy.” The resulting list includes all the works belonging to the Monhegan Museum.

Once you have made your selection, I ask that you write a brief statement (maximum one paragraph in total) about why you selected the work, what you would want visitors to notice about the work, and how it relates to your own work or artistic practice. This statement will be included in the wall text accompanying the image, as well as in the catalogue that will accompany the exhibit. Please send your selection and accompanying text to me by October 1. If you plan to be on island this summer and would like to see any works in person, please reach out to me so that we can set up a time for you to view the work.
